SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MR. PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION to honor Dr. David Marcotte
2 upon his retirement for his service at the Indiana Urban Schools
3 Association (IUSA).
4 Whereas, David Marcotte graduated from Central
5 Michigan University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Music
6 Education, in 1989 received his Master of Music from Bowling
7 Green State University, and in 2015 received his Doctor of
8 Philosophy from Indiana State University;
9 Whereas, David has provided leadership to the 37-member
10 traditional public school districts of IUSA, representing
11 330,000 students, in advocating for urban education, policy
12 development, and funding equity since 2018;
13 Whereas, David has served as an educational legislative
14 policy resource to the Indiana General Assembly;
15 Whereas, David has been the representative of urban
16 school districts to various education groups, including school
17 boards, superintendents, principals, and the Indiana
18 Department of Education; and

1 Whereas, David advocates for the needs of urban students,
2 striving to positively impact their public education and,
3 ultimately, their future opportunities: Therefore,
4 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
5 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
6 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate honors Dr. David
7 Marcotte upon his retirement for his service at the Indiana
8 Urban Schools Association (IUSA).
9 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
10 to transmit one copy of this Resolution to Dr. David Marcotte.
