5 | 5 | | ancestry, compared to the national average of 9.7%; and |

6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Irish immigrants in the United States helped form the cultural foundation of the nation; and |

7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The ties that bind Ireland and Kansas are deep and lasting; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Thanks to those close ties, both Kansas and Ireland have benefited from deep |

9 | 9 | | and extensive cultural and commercial exchanges; and |

10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Ireland currently ranks 38 |

12 | 12 | | on Kansas exports, illustrating a need to create a |

13 | 13 | | stronger trade partnership. Although the work may be difficult, it surely will be worthwhile; and |

14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, It is in the best interest of Kansas and Ireland to support efforts to strengthen |

15 | 15 | | their relationship: Now, therefore, |

16 | 16 | | Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Kansas: That we support the strengthening of Kansas' trade |

17 | 17 | | partnership with Ireland to create a more prosperous future for all; and |

18 | 18 | | Be it further resolved: That we recognize the deputy chairman of the Irish Senate, Mark Daly, for his efforts |
---|
19 | 19 | | to promote trade with Kansas and his support of an Irish-Kansas trade commission; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | Be it further resolved: That the Secretary of the Senate shall send an enrolled copy of this resolution to Mark |
