A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION approving the creation of a port
authority in Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.
WHEREAS, The State of Kansas encourages economic development
and cooperation to maintain and foster economic stability and continued
growth needed for a prosperous economy; and
WHEREAS, The economic prosperity and well-being of Wyandotte
County and Kansas City, Kansas, will be enhanced and improved by the
creation of a port authority; and
WHEREAS, The governing body of the unified government of
Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, believes that it is in the best
interests of the citizens and residents of Wyandotte County and Kansas
City, Kansas, that a port authority be created to preserve, enhance and
improve the economic prosperity of Wyandotte County and Kansas City,
Kansas; and
WHEREAS, The governing body of the unified government of
Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, proposes a resolution to
create a Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, Port Authority:
Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Kansas, the House of
Representatives concurring therein: That the legislature of the State of
Kansas, in accordance with the provisions of K.S.A. 12-3402, and
amendments thereto, hereby approves the creation of a port authority with
all the powers, duties, limitations and obligations provided for in article
34 of chapter 12 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, and amendments
thereto, as the governing body of the unified government of Wyandotte
County and Kansas City, Kansas, may create by appropriate resolutions
or ordinances; and
Be it further resolved: That the Secretary of State shall send an
enrolled copy of this resolution to Senator Haley.
