Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE BILL NO. 1221 BY REPRESENTATIVE RICHMOND TRAFFIC/VIOLATIONS: Increases seat belt violation fines AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 32:295.1(G)(1), relative to seat belt violations; to increase fines2 for seat belt violations; and to provide for related matters.3 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4 Section 1. R.S. 32:295.1(G)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:5 ยง295.1. Safety belt use; tags indicating exemption6 * * *7 G.(1) Any person who violates this Section subsequent to August 31, 1995,8 and prior to November 1, 1995, shall be given a warning ticket only. Present law provides that upon conviction of a second offense, the fine shall be $50, including all costs of court. Proposed law increases the fine to $75. Present law provides that upon conviction of a third offense and any subsequent offense, the fine shall be $50, plus all costs of court. Proposed law increases the fine to $100. (Amends R.S. 32:295.1(G)(1)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by House Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works to the original bill. 1.
