AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 44:36(D), relative to public records; to provide relative to public2
bodies; to reduce the time required for the Department of Public Safety and3
Corrections to retain records regarding adult offenders; and to provide for related4
matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 44:36(D) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7
ยง36.  Preservation of records8

D. All existing records or records hereafter accumulated by the Department10
of Public Safety and Corrections, Correction Services corrections services,11
pertaining to any adult offender shall be retained and may not be destroyed until12
after ten six years from the date the full term sentence imposed upon such offender13
expires, or six years from the date of death of the offender, whichever occurs14
first.15
