Regular Session, 2010 SENATE BILL NO. 477 BY SENATOR N. GAUTREAUX ETHICS. Requires certain public servants to disclose certain financial information. (8/15/10) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 42:1124(A)(6), relative to financial disclosure; to provide2 disclosure requirements for certain public servants; and to provide for related3 matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 42:1124(A)(6) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6 ยง1124. Financial disclosure; statewide elected officials; certain public servants7 A. Gautreaux (SB 477) Present law provides that the following persons must annually file a financial statement as provided in present law: (1) Each person holding statewide elected office. (2) The secretary of each of the following departments of state government: (a) The Department of Economic Development. (b) The Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. (c) The Department of Environmental Quality. (d) The Department of Health and Hospitals. (e) The Department of Labor. (f) The Department of Natural Resources. (g) The Department of Public Safety and Corrections. (h) The Department of Revenue. (i) The Department of Social Services. (j) The Department of Transportation and Development. (k) The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. (l) The Department of Veterans Affairs. (3) The executive secretary of the Public Service Commission. (4) The director of state civil service. (5) The superintendent of education, the commissioner of higher education, and the president of each public postsecondary education system. (6) The commissioner of the division of administration. (7) The policy director in the office of the governor. (8) The chief of staff of the office of the governor. (9) The executive counsel to the governor. (10) The deputy chief of staff of the office of the governor. (11) The legislative director in the office of the governor. Proposed law retains present law and also provides that the following public servants must also file the financial statements provided for by present law: (1) The commissioner of conservation. (2)The commissioner of financial institutions. (3)The executive director of the Louisiana State Racing Commission. (4)The executive director of the Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration. Effective August 15, 2010. (Amends R.S. 42:1124(A)(6)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by Senate Committee Amendments Proposed by Senate Committee on Senate and Governmental Affairs to the original bill. 1. Deletes the commissioner of insurance, the commissioner of public finance and the commissioner of public property from list of public servants required to file a financial statement provided for by present law. 2. Adds executive director of the Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration to the list of public servants required to file a financial statement provided for by present law.
