SENATE BILL NO. 715
BY SENATOR CLAITOR 
TELEPHONES. Provides for a pro rata credit for cancellation of a wireless telephone
service contract under certain conditions. (8/15/10)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 45:844.9, relative to wireless telephone contracts; to provide for a pro rata2
credit upon the cancellation of a wireless telephone contract under certain conditions;3
and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 45:844.9 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง844.9. Wireless telephone contracts; pro rata credit7
A. Upon the cancellation by a consumer of a wireless telephone service,8
the company which provided the wireless telephone service shall issue a credit9
to the consumer in an amount equal to the prorata share of the remaining10
service term.11
B. The provisions of this Section shall only be applicable to those12
consumers whose wireless telephone service contract has expired and the13
consumer's service has been continued on a month-to-month basis under the14
same terms of the original contract.15 SB NO. 715

Proposed law provides that upon the cancellation by a consumer of a wireless telephone
service, the company which provided the wireless telephone service shall issue a credit to
the consumer in an amount equal to the pro-rata share of the remaining service term.
Proposed law provides that the provisions of proposed law shall only be applicable to those
consumers whose wireless telephone service contract has expired and the consumer's service
has been continued on a month-to-month basis under the same terms of the original contract.
Effective August 15, 2010.
