SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 112

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend La Musique de Louisianne Inc., (The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame) for its
outstanding work and declare it the official honors and recognition organization and
information resource for Louisiana's music, musicians and musical heritage.
WHEREAS, the people of Louisiana are blessed with numerous musical cultures and
an abundance of Louisiana musicians and songwriters from which many original and
extraordinary genres and songs have evolved and from which many more will come; and 
WHEREAS, Louisiana has an abundance of the valued raw materials from which
musical recordings can be developed for economic enhancement through music marketing,
sales and distribution to the national and international markets; and 
WHEREAS, the business of music is a multibillion dollar industry in the United
States and worldwide, and music is utilized by other industries including motion pictures,
radio, television, live performance, advertising, Internet and others; and
WHEREAS, songs are the material that is used daily in the performance of thousands
of jobs by broadcasters, singers, musicians, entertainers, recorders, distributors,
administrators, marketers, and producers of music content for recordings, advertising, live
performances, motion pictures, digital files, Internet, mobile and other digital media; and
WHEREAS, the music business also profoundly impacts advertising and many other
industries helping to drive commerce through musical audio marketing and the promotion
of multitudes of American and Louisiana products and services and Louisiana tourism; and
WHEREAS, music is an important international export in various recorded media
and as program content for traveling live performance entertainers; and
WHEREAS, the art and the craft of music, the creation, production, marketing and
publishing of music and songs stimulates commerce and the growth of the Louisiana music
industry and related industries, and the economic well-being of Louisiana citizens and
Louisiana artists and musicians that work and perform in these industries; and SCR NO. 112	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, efforts to preserve the music, musicians and musical heritage of
Louisiana are, and have been promoted by a specific certified nonprofit organization by
event and deed, by use of dissemination of information to all, and by use of digital and
Internet technology extend this information to all people worldwide; and
WHEREAS, this same organization has, and continues to, educate the world about
the music, musicians and musical heritage of Louisiana in support of Louisiana's music
industry and related industries, and the economic well-being of Louisiana citizens and
Louisiana artists and musicians that work and perform in these industries; and
WHEREAS, preservation of, and education about, Louisiana's music, musicians and
musical heritage are two necessary steps in efforts to re-establish Louisiana's music industry
that, in the twentieth century, dominated music worldwide; and
WHEREAS, the legislature is proud to honor and recognize Louisiana certified
nonprofit organizations that serve Louisiana and the global industry.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend, for its outstanding work, La Musique de Louisianne Inc., (The Louisiana Music
Hall Of Fame) and declares it as the official honors and recognition organization, and
information resource, for and about Louisiana's music, musicians and musical heritage.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Governor of Louisiana and to the La Musique de Louisianne Inc.
