AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 33:2201(B)(20), relative to law enforcement; to include state employees2
engaged in an investigation, serving an order of the court, or collecting evidence of3
a possible violation of state law as law enforcement officers for whom certain4
benefits are provided to surviving spouses and children in certain cases; and to5
provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 33:2201(B)(20) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8
ยง2201. Financial security for surviving spouses and children of law enforcement9
officers in certain cases10

B. Law enforcement officers, within the meaning of this Section, shall12
include:13

(20) On and after January 1, 2011, all state employees conducting15
investigations, serving subpoenas, warrants, pleadings, or other orders of the16
court, or collecting evidence concerning the affairs of a person upon a17
reasonable belief that the person has engaged in, or is engaging in, an act or18
practice that violates state law.19

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not2
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature3
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If4
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become5
effective on the day following such approval.6
