AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 48:36, relative to topographic mapping; to provide for mandatory2
development and maintenance of a statewide digital geospatial database for3
topographic mapping; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 48:36 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6
ยง36. Topographic mapping7
A. The department may shall develop and maintain a statewide digital8
geospatial database for topographic mapping with the assistance of other state9
agencies or departments. The department shall act as authority for geographic10
names, set standards for the mapping of topographic features, and plan and manage11
data collection for incorporation into a statewide database for topographic mapping.12
Rules and regulations shall be promulgated by the department in accordance with the13
Administrative Procedure Act as are necessary for the planning and managing of the14
geospatial data associated with topographic mapping.15
B. The department shall submit a written report to the House and Senate16
committees on transportation, highways, and public works providing for a program17
and plan of implementation for the development and maintenance of a statewide18 ENROLLEDHB NO. 680

this Section no later than December 31, 2012.2
