Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 872 BY REPRESENTATIVE HAZEL CHILDREN/SUPPORT: Provides with respect to child support calculations AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 9:315(C)(7), relative to net child care costs for purposes of child2 support calculations; to provide for inclusion of reasonable costs of child care3 incurred due to job training or education; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 9:315(C)(7) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6 ยง315. Economic data and principles; definitions7 * * *8 C. Definitions. As used in this Part:9 * * *10 (7) "Net child care costs" means the reasonable costs of child care incurred11 by a party due to employment or job search, minus the value of the federal income12 tax credit for child care. Present law, relative to child support calculations, provides for child care expenses incurred by a parent due to the parent's employment or job searching. Proposed law retains present law and adds that net child care costs may include reasonable child care expenses incurred while a parent is receiving job training or an education to obtain employment, provided the costs do not unreasonably burden the parent paying child support.
