ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 58 BY REPRESENTATIVE NORTON A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To urge and request the presiding officers of the Legislature of Louisiana to ensure that appropriate recognition of the sacrifices of Louisianians who have served as members of the Armed Forces of the United States in the War on Terror be displayed on the website of the legislature. WHEREAS, thousands of brave, patriotic Louisianians have served the United States of America with distinction and great personal sacrifice as members of the Armed Forces of the United States in the War on Terror; and WHEREAS, now that their mission has been accomplished and all combat soldiers have been withdrawn from Iraq and the draw-down of troops from Afghanistan has begun, it is appropriate for the State of Louisiana to formally recognize the service to our nation of these brave Louisianians. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby formally recognize the sacrifices of the soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coast guardsmen from Louisiana who served so bravely as servicemen of the United States Armed Forces in the War on Terror, some of whom never returned or returned home permanently scarred physically and mentally. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby encourage all its citizens, parishes, cities, and businesses to collectively organize and sponsor such honorable recognitions as parades and other public events on behalf of our active military and veterans. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the presiding officers of the legislature to ensure that appropriate recognition of ENROLLEDHCR NO. 58 Page 2 of 2 the sacrifices of Louisianians who have served as members of the Armed Forces of the United States in Iraq be displayed on the website of the legislature.
