Regular Session, 2012 ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 173 BY SENATOR MURRAY AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 13:2505 and 2519(B) and to repeal R.S. 13:2501.1(J), 2502,2 2503, 2504, 2504.1, 2508, 2510, 2511, 2517, and 2518, relative to the Traffic Court3 of New Orleans; to provide certain procedures, conditions and requirements; to4 provide relative to certain employment; to repeal provisions relative to certain5 multiple misdemeanors or ordinance violations; to repeal provisions relative to6 certain judicial employees and their compensation; to repeal provisions relative to7 certain fidelity bonds; and to provide for related matters.8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:9 Section 1. R.S. 13:2505 and 2519(B) are hereby amended and reenacted to read as10 follows:11 §2505. Traffic court; deputy clerks, assistants and other employees 12 A. The clerk of the traffic court of New Orleans has the right to appoint such13 deputy clerks, assistants and other employees of the clerk's office as may be14 necessary for the proper functioning of the office and the violations bureau. ,15 including: 16 (1) A chief deputy clerk at a monthly salary of not less than twenty-four17 hundred and one dollars.18 (2) Cashiers at a monthly salary of not less than nine hundred seventy-six19 dollars.20 (3) Bond clerks at a monthly salary of not less than seven hundred21 eighty-two dollars.22 (4) Affidavit clerks at a monthly salary of not less than seven hundred23 eighty-two dollars. 24 (5) Docket clerks at a monthly salary of not less than seven hundred25 eighty-two dollars.26 (6) Stenographers at a monthly salary of not less than fourteen hundred four27 ACT No. 731 SB NO. 173 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 Coding: Words which are struck through are deletions from existing law; words in boldface type and underscored are additions. dollars.1 (7) Secretaries at a monthly salary of not less than eleven hundred2 eighty-three dollars.3 B. Nothing herein shall be construed to prevent any personnel of the New4 Orleans Police Department from executing the orders and decrees of the judge, or5 judges, of the traffic court of New Orleans, who shall be authorized to serve process6 by the judge or judges thereof.7 C. The clerk may suspend or terminate the employment of any deputy clerk,8 assistant or other employee of his office, except those appointed by a judge for such9 reason or reasons that he deems to be in the best interests of the court.10 * * *11 §2519. Procedure for granting probation to convicted defendants in Municipal and12 Traffic Courts of New Orleans13 * * *14 B. During the period of probation, the defendant may be compelled to report15 periodically to the court. Reasonable bail with good and solvent surety may be16 required of the defendant during the period of probation in a sum not to exceed five17 hundred dollars.18 * * *19 Section 2.
