VIDEO POKER. Prohibits certain activities under the Video Draw Poker Devices Control
Law. (8/1/12)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 27:19(D), relative to video poker; to prohibit persons and entities advising the2
state from representing any business or legal entity seeking to be engaged in or who3
is engaged in any activity regulated by the Video Draw Poker Devices Control Law;4
and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 27:19(D) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7

D. Any person employed, contracted, or otherwise engaged by the10
attorney general to advise or represent the state or any state agency is11
prohibited from representing any person seeking to be engaged in or who is12
currently engaged in any activity licensed or regulated by the Video Draw13

Morrell (SB 747)
Present law requires the attorney general or his designee to be the legal advisor and legal
representative to the LA Gaming Control Board (LGCB), its chairman, and the office of state
police relative to all gaming matters under the board's jurisdiction, and in all legal
proceedings.
Present law requires the attorney general to provide criminal investigative services to the
board.
Present law provides that the expenses of the attorney general for legal, investigative, and
administrative costs incurred in advising and representing the LGCB, chairman, and state
police be as provided by legislative appropriation in accordance with law.
Proposed law retains present law and prohibits any person employed, contracted, or
otherwise engaged by the attorney general to advise or represent the state or any state agency
from representing any person seeking to be engaged in or who is currently engaged in any
activity licensed or regulated by the Video Draw Poker Devices Control Law.
Effective August 1, 2012.
