SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 94
BY SENATOR BROOME 
A RESOLUTION
To recognize April of 2012 as Sarcoidosis Awareness Month in Louisiana and to commend
the Sarcoidosis Awareness Support Group of Greater Baton Rouge.
WHEREAS, citizens throughout Louisiana, including the Sarcoidosis Awareness
Support Group of Greater Baton Rouge, are observing Sarcoidosis Awareness Month in
April of 2012 with the theme "Stepping Out Against Sarcoidosis"; and
WHEREAS, sarcoidosis is a potentially fatal inflammatory disease which can appear
in almost any organ in the body, which strikes people of all races and all ages, and which
affects people in chronic and debilitating ways; and
WHEREAS, while some progress has been made in understanding the symptoms and
better diagnosing the disease, the cause remains undetermined, and very little is known about
the true burden of this illness; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to set aside a special month to recognize the need for
more research funding relative to sarcoidosis and the importance of supporting individuals
with the disease and to commend those fighting to raise sarcoidosis awareness.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize April of 2012 as Sarcoidosis Awareness Month in Louisiana and does
hereby commend the efforts of the Sarcoidosis Awareness Support Group of Greater Baton
Rouge.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
group leader of the Sarcoidosis Awareness Support Group of Greater Baton Rouge.
