AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 13:5554(R), relative to the payment of group insurance premium2 costs for persons retired from the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office; to provide for3 eligibility for payment of such costs for retired sheriffs and retired deputy sheriffs4 of the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office; to provide for effective dates; and to provide5 for related matters.6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7 Section 1. R.S. 13:5554(R) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8 ยง5554. Group insurance; kinds; amounts; subrogation9 * * *10 R. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, in the11 parish the sheriff of Richland Parish shall pay one hundred percent of the premium12 costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and the first ten13 thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section14 shall be paid from the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance15 for any sheriff or full-time deputy sheriff who is entitled to receive monthly benefits16 from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund and has retired who retires from the17 Richland Parish Sheriff's Office sheriff's office and who is entitled to receive18 monthly benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund and who has either of19 the following as follows:20 (1) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who is eligible to retire and meets the21 requirements of Subparagraph (a) or (b) of this Paragraph on or before August 31,22 2013, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and23 ENROLLEDHB NO. 195 Page 2 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions. medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance1 contracted for under the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff2 retires with either of the following:3 (a) At least fifteen years of full-time service with the Richland Parish4 sheriff's office Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.5 (2)(b) At least thirty years of full-time service with the Richland Parish6 sheriff's office Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.7 (2) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who first becomes eligible to retire and8 subsequently retires after August 31, 2013, fifty percent of the premium costs of9 group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand10 dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the11 sheriff or deputy sheriff retires with at least twenty-five years of creditable service12 with the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office and has attained the age of fifty-five.13 (3) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical,14 and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance15 contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff16 retires with thirty years or more of creditable service with the Richland Parish17 Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.18 * * *19 SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATI VES PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF LOUISIANA APPROVED:
