AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 40:531(A)(3) and 537(A)(5), relative to local housing authorities; to provide2 relative to the governing boards of authorities located in certain parishes; to provide3 that governing board members shall be appointed and removed by the chief elected4 official of the parish rather than the parish governing authority; and to provide for5 related matters.6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7 Section 1. R.S. 40:531(A)(3) and 537(A)(5) are hereby enacted to read as follows:8 §531. Appointment of commissioners to local housing authority9 A.10 * * *11 (3) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, when the12 governing body of a parish with a population of not more than forty-six thousand13 five hundred persons and not less than forty-five thousand five hundred persons14 based on the latest federal decennial census has determined by resolution as set forth15 in R.S. 40:393, that it is expedient to establish a local housing authority, the chief16 elected official of the parish shall appoint five persons who shall constitute the17 governing body of the local housing authority and shall be called commissioners.18 * * *19 §537. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not6 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature7 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
