Page 1 of 1 Regular Session, 2013 APPROVED SENATE STUDY REQUEST NO. 1 BY SENATOR MORRELL A STUDY REQUEST To request the Senate Committee on Judiciary B to study the viability of authorizing online video poker at licensed establishments. WHEREAS, online websites offering video poker have raised both consumer protection and enforcement concerns for over a decade; and WHEREAS, millions of Americans play online poker regularly, yet there is no regulatory structure to ensure the games are fair or that operators are screening underage players; and WHEREAS, the annual internet gaming market is estimated to be between $4 and $6 billion; and WHEREAS, at a time when revenue is limited, even though the player may be playing from a computer located in Louisiana, our state government does not collect any revenue from this multibillion dollar online poker industry. THEREFORE, the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana requests that the Senate Committee on Judiciary B to study the feasibility of authorizing online video poker at currently licensed establishments.
