ACT No. 59 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE BILL NO. 365 BY REPRESENTATIVES MORENO AND BROADWATER AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 18:18(D) and to enact R.S. 18:154(C)(2)(d), relative to certain2 voter information and data; to authorize the secretary of state to enter into certain3 agreements to share certain voter information or data; to provide for the purposes of4 such agreements; to require certain provisions; to provide relative to the5 confidentiality of certain voter information and data; and to provide for related6 matters.7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8 Section 1. R.S. 18:18(D) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 18:154(C)(2)(d)9 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 10 §18. Secretary of state; powers and duties11 * * *12 D. The secretary of state may enter into cooperative agreements with other13 states or the Electronic Registration Information Center to share voter registration14 information or data for purposes of determining whether a voter is registered in more15 than one state and for the maintenance of the state voter registration computer16 system. The secretary of state shall include in any such cooperative agreement a17 provision for the privacy of the information or data that complies fully with18 applicable state and federal law.19 * * *20 §154. (2)1 * * *2 (d) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection shall not apply to3 voter registration information or data transmitted to a state or the Electronic4 Registration Information Center for purposes of determining whether a voter is5 registered to vote in more than one state and for the maintenance of the state voter6 registration computer system.7 * * *8 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not9 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature10 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
