Abstract: Increases the membership of the Port of South La. Commission from 7 members to 11
members.
Present law provides that the Port of South La. shall be governed by a board of 7 members.
Proposed law provides that the Port of South La. shall be governed by a board of 11 members.
Present law provides that 2 members shall be appointed by the governor from a list of 1 nominee
from each parish located within the territorial jurisdiction of the port who is a resident of such
parish, or who may, instead of holding residency, be the chief executive officer of a business
which is principally operated within each parish submitted to him by La. Farm Bureau, La. AFL-
CIO, Southern University River Parishes Alumni Association,  and the River Region Chamber of
Commerce.
Proposed law increases the number of appointments from 2 to 3 members.
Present law provides that 1 member shall be appointed by the governor from a list of 1 nominee
each from each parish located within the territorial jurisdiction of the port who is a resident of
such parish, or who may, instead of residency, be the chief executive officer of a business which
is principally operated within each parish submitted to him by the River Parishes Chemical
Industry Council, the Grain Elevator and Processing Society, the Greater New Orleans Barge
Fleeting Association, and the New Orleans and Baton Rouge Port Pilots Association.
Proposed law increases the number of appointments from 1 to 3 members.
Present law provides that one member-at-large shall reside and be domiciled within the
geographical boundaries of the port shall be appointed by the governor.
Proposed law increases the number of appointments from 1 to 2 members-at-large.
