HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 103
BY REPRESENTATIVES HONORE AND JAMES AND SENATOR GALLOT
COMMENDATIONS: Commends Cameron Murray upon achieiving the rank of Eagle in
the Boys Scouts of America
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Cameron Murray upon achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.2
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend and celebrate the accomplishments of3
Cameron Murray of Boy Scouts of America Troop 103 on the memorable and historic4
occasion of his attainment of the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout; and5
WHEREAS, the purpose of Boy Scouts of America, incorporated on February 8,6
1910, and chartered by the United States Congress in 1916, is to provide an educational7
program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of8
participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness; and9
WHEREAS, to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting, a Boy10
Scout must fulfill all requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills, and11
the Eagle Scout must earn twenty-one merit badges which signify the mastery of Scoutcraft12
skills, including Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, and Citizenship13
in the World; and14
WHEREAS, in addition to the merit badges Cameron Murray has earned and his15
involvement in scouting for eleven years, Cameron is a honor roll student at Catholic High16
School where Cameron is a junior and a member of the wrestling team; Cameron is also a17
member of Jack & Jill  of American; and18
WHEREAS, Cameron Murray plans to attend the Standford University Law Program19
for high school students this summer and after high school he plans to attend Yale to earn20

WHEREAS, only a small percentage of Boy Scouts earn the Eagle Scout rank,1
illustrating that it takes a uniquely motivated young man like Cameron Murray to strive to2
embody the five integral responsibilities of an Eagle Scout, which are honor, loyalty,3
courage, cheer, and service; and4
WHEREAS, presented with his Eagle Scout badge, Cameron Murray joins the ranks5
of such esteemed and respected Eagle Scouts as the Honorable Gerald R. Ford, the thirty-6
eighth President of the United States, Captain James Lovell, the commander of the Apollo7
13 space flight, and acclaimed film-maker Steven Spielberg; and8
WHEREAS, the legacy of the Boy Scouts of America is rich indeed, for it not only9
includes a history of service and proud citizenship which spans nearly a century, but it10
includes the momentous and singular accomplishments of Cameron Murray, who is11
recognized and commended for his deep human values, the genuine spirit of good fellowship12
he inspires, and his service as a fine example of hard work and integrity in the eyes of future13
Eagle Scouts and his entire community.14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that on the celebrated and historic occasion of15
his attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout, the House of Representatives of the Legislature16
of Louisiana does hereby commend and honor Cameron Murray upon achieving the rank of17
Eagle Scout, express utmost gratitude and respect for the exemplary strides he has taken as18
a scout and as a citizen, does hereby congratulate Cameron Murray and the members and19
leaders of Troop 103 as they commemorate this most significant and unforgettable event20
when Cameron pledges his eternal loyalty to the code of the Eagle Scout, and does hereby21
wish Cameron and his entire family full measures of happiness and success in all of their22
future endeavors.23
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted24
