MOTOR VEHICLES.  Provides relative to a water damaged vehicle. (8/1/14)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 32:707(O), relative to the application for certificate of title of motor vehicles;2
to provide for requirement of certificate of title on a water damaged vehicle; and to3
provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 32:707(O) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง707. Application for certificates of title; exception; salvage title; antique vehicles;7
reconstructed title8

(O) A vehicle whose power train, computer, or electrical system has10
sustained water damage, but does not meet the criteria for a salvaged vehicle,11
or a certificate of destruction, shall be issued a branded title indicating the12
vehicle has sustained water damage. The department shall promulgate rules as13
are necessary to implement and enforce this Subsection.14 SB NO. 417

vehicle, or a certificate of destruction.

Proposed law requires the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to promulgate rules
necessary to implement and enforce branded title for water damage vehicle.
Effective August 1, 2014.
