Requests DOTD to perform a study relative to the increase in the noise decibel levels as a result of the expansion of LA 42 (Burbank Drive) and elsewhere in Baton Rouge. A RESOLUTION1 To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to perform a study2 relative to the increase in the noise decibel levels as a result of the expansion of3 Louisiana Highway 42, also known as Burbank Drive, and elsewhere in Baton4 Rouge.5 WHEREAS, the department has completed an expansion of Louisiana Highway 42,6 also known as Burbank Drive, between Bluebonnet Boulevard and Siegen Lane in recent7 years;8 WHEREAS, the city of Baton Rouge has also completed certain improvements to9 Louisiana Highway 42 as a part of its Green Light Program plan; and10 WHEREAS, following completion of these improvements, the noise decibel levels11 adjacent to Louisiana Highway 42 have increased significantly and severely affected the12 homeowners in the Lakes at Highland Subdivision as well as other similarly situated13 residential areas; and14 WHEREAS, prior to completion of these improvements, there were trees that served15 as a noise buffer for the Lakes at Highland Subdivision; and16 WHEREAS, a study needs to be conducted to develop recommendations on how to17 address minimizing the noise levels affecting residents living adjacent to Louisiana Highway18 SR NO. 66 SLS 14RS-2544 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 42.1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana2 does hereby urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to perform3 a study relative to the increase in noise decibel levels as a result of the expansion of4 Louisiana Highway 42, also known as Burbank Drive, and elsewhere in Baton Rouge and5 to work with the city of Baton Rouge to develop recommendations on how to address6 minimizing the noise levels affecting residents living adjacent to Louisiana Highway 42.7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the department shall submit a written report of8 its findings and recommendations to the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana not later than9 April 1, 2015.10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the11 secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development and to the mayor -president12 of the city of Baton Rouge and parish of East Baton Rouge.13 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Sharon F.
