Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 66 BY SENATOR DORSEY-COLOMB A RESOLUTION To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to perform a study relative to the increase in the noise decibel levels as a result of the expansion of Louisiana Highway 42, also known as Burbank Drive, in Baton Rouge. WHEREAS, the department has completed an expansion of Louisiana Highway 42, also known as Burbank Drive, between Bluebonnet Boulevard and Siegen Lane in recent years; and WHEREAS, the city of Baton Rouge has also completed certain improvements to Louisiana Highway 42 as a part of its Green Light Program plan; and WHEREAS, following completion of these improvements, the noise decibel levels adjacent to Louisiana Highway 42 have increased significantly and severely affected the homeowners in the Lakes at Highland Subdivision as well as other similarly situated residential areas; and WHEREAS, prior to completion of these improvements, there were trees that served as a noise buffer for the Lakes at Highland Subdivision; and WHEREAS, a study needs to be conducted to develop recommendations on how to address minimizing the noise levels affecting residents living adjacent to Louisiana Highway 42. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to perform a study relative to the increase in noise decibel levels as a result of the expansion of Louisiana Highway 42, also known as Burbank Drive, in Baton Rouge and to work with the city of Baton Rouge to develop recommendations on how to address minimizing the noise levels affecting residents living adjacent to Louisiana Highway 42. SR NO. 66 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development and to the mayor -president of the city of Baton Rouge and parish of East Baton Rouge.
