R.S. 48:388.1(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 9 ยง388.1. Freight Railroad Intermodal Grant Program 10 * * * 11 C. No Transportation Trust Fund money shall monies may be used for this 12 program. However, this program shall not utilize Transportation Trust Fund monies 13 for the operating costs of any railroad. 14 * * * 15 Section 2. R.S. 48:388.1(B) is hereby repealed in its entirety. 16 Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 17signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 18by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 19vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 20effective on the day following such approval. Present law requires the program to be implemented not later than Jan. 1, 1998, for a 10-year period and to be evaluated at the end of that period. Proposed law repeals present law. Present law prohibits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies for the grant program. Proposed law removes the prohibition and permits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies for the grant program. Proposed law prohibits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies by the grant program for the operating costs of any railroad. Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
