Abstract: Authorizes the secretary of state to promulgate rules and forms for the registration of
individuals who serve as demographers for the development of reapportionment or
redistricting plans in La.
Present law (R.S. 49:950 et seq.—Administrative Procedure Act) provides procedures and
requirements for the promulgation of rules by state agencies.
Present law (R.S. 18:18) provides for the powers and duties of the secretary of state. Provides that
he shall administer the laws relating to custody of voting machines and voter registration and
provides specific duties.
Proposed law retains present law. Authorizes the secretary of state to promulgate rules and forms
pursuant to present law (Administrative Procedure Act) for the registration of individuals who serve
as demographers for the development of reapportionment or redistricting plans in La.
