Abstract:  Authorizes the secretary of state to receive and post information on persons who provide
redistricting services.
Present law (R.S. 49:950 et seq.—Administrative Procedure Act) provides procedures and
requirements for the promulgation of rules by state agencies.
Present law (R.S. 18:18) provides for the powers and duties of the secretary of state.  Provides that
he shall administer the laws relating to custody of voting machines and voter registration and
provides specific duties.
Proposed law retains present law.  Authorizes the secretary of state to provide for the voluntary
submission of information by persons who provide redistricting services in La. and for the posting
of such information on the website of the secretary of state.

Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on House and Governmental
Affairs to the original bill:
1. Delete provision authorizing the secretary of state to promulgate rules and forms for the
registration of individuals who serve as demographers for the development of
reapportionment or redistricting plans in La.  Instead authorizes the secretary of state to
provide for the voluntary submission of information by persons who provide redistricting
services in La. and for the posting of such information on the website of the secretary of
state.
