[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 977 Original 2016 Regular Session Edmonds Abstract: Allows for the administration of nationally recognized, norm-referenced tests to voucher recipients at participating nonpublic schools. Present law, relative to the Student Scholarships for Educational Excellence Program, requires that nonpublic schools participating in the program administer the exams required as part of the school and district accountability system to each voucher recipient enrolled in the school. Requires the nonpublic school to provide the results of such exams to the student's parent. Proposed law permits the nonpublic school to administer a nationally recognized, norm- referenced test approved by the State Bd. of Elementary and Secondary Education instead of the state required exams. Otherwise retains present law. (Amends R.S. 17:4023) Page 2 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions.
