WEAPONS/FIREARMS: Creates the crime of unlawfully supplying a child with any fully automatic gun 1 AN ACT 2To enact R.S. 14:95.1.4, relative to offenses affecting public safety; to prohibit persons from 3 supplying a child with any fully automatic gun; to provide for criminal penalties; and 4 to provide for related matters. 5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 14:95.1.4 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง95.1.4. Unlawfully supplying a child with any fully automatic gun 8 A. No person shall do any of the following: 9 (1) Give, sell, donate, provide, lend, deliver, or otherwise transfer any fully 10 automatic gun to any child who is twelve years of age or younger. 11 (2) Temporarily transfer any fully automatic gun to any child who is twelve 12 years of age or younger for use in target shooting or on a firing or shooting range or 13 for any other purpose. 14 B. The following penalties shall apply to any person who violates the 15 provisions of this Section: 16 (1) On a first conviction, the offender shall be fined not more than one 17 thousand dollars. 18 (2) On a second conviction, the offender shall be fined not more than five 19 thousand dollars. Proposed law prohibits any person from engaging in any of the following: (1)Giving, selling, donating, providing, lending, delivering, or otherwise transferring any fully automatic gun to any child who is 12 years of age or younger. (2)Temporarily transferring any fully automatic gun to any child who is 12 years of age or younger for use in target shooting or on a firing or shooting range or for any other purpose. Proposed law provides that whoever violates proposed law shall be subject to the following penalties: (1)On a first conviction - a fine of up to $1,000. (2)On a second conviction - a fine of up to $5,000. (3)On a third or subsequent conviction - imprisonment for not more than six months. Amend proposed law to prohibit supplying a child with any fully automatic gun, instead of a prohibition on supplying a child with an Uzi submachine gun specifically.
