DIGEST
SB 10 Engrossed	2017 Regular Session	Mills
Present law authorizes an automobile expense allowance for the assessors in Assumption, Iberville,
Lafayette, Pointe Coupee, and Webster parishes. The amount of the allowance is not to exceed 15%
of the assessors' annual salary and shall be payable out of existing funds of the assessors' office at
no additional expense to the state or local governing authority, provided the assessors maintain
$300,000 of automobile insurance per accident for bodily injury and $100,000 of automobile
insurance per accident for property damage.
Proposed law retains present law as it relates to the assessors of Assumption, Iberville, Lafayette,
Pointe Coupee, and Webster parishes but adds authorization for the assessor in St. Martin Parish to
have an equivalent automobile expense allowance.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
