HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 96
BY REPRESENTATIVE DUPLESSIS
A RESOLUTION
To commend the members of the New Leaders Council-Louisiana.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the members of the New Leaders Council-
Louisiana (NLC-Louisiana), a nonprofit leadership development organization dedicated to
helping young professionals achieve positive, progressive change in Louisiana by providing
practical skills training at no cost; and
WHEREAS, the intention of the work of NLC is to build a nationwide network of
strong, skilled, progressive political leaders who will go on to build institutions that support
robust civic and political life; and
WHEREAS, founded in 2010, NLC-Louisiana has trained nearly two hundred young
professionals in communications, organization, finance and fundraising, political
management, policy development, negotiation, and self-determination; and
WHEREAS, NLC-Louisiana alumni have gone on to found nonprofit organizations
and "for-profit, for-good" businesses, manage political and social issue campaigns, serve in
high-level government positions, and serve as elected officials; and
WHEREAS, NLC-Louisiana's class of 2019 fellows are the most diverse in the
history of the organization, hailing from all corners of the state of Louisiana and representing
multiple industries, professions, ethnicities, and sexual orientations; and
WHEREAS, the class of 2019 fellows and the alumni of NLC-Louisiana bring
tremendous honor and pride to the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of the New Leaders

Council-Louisiana and does hereby express enduring appreciation to the members for their
dedication to working towards positive change in the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Evan
J. Bergeron.
