ENROLLED 2020 First Extraordinary Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 23 BY REPRESENTATIVE IVEY A RESOLUTION To urge and request the Department of Economic Development to identify and study all potential data points that are collected or are capable of being collected by the Department of Economic Development and to provide a written report of its findings to the House Committee on Ways and Means no later than February 1, 2021. WHEREAS, the Department of Economic Development is responsible for promoting the growth of industry and other commercial enterprises in Louisiana that contribute to the overall improvement of the economy of the state; and WHEREAS, the Department of Economic Development collects data points that are used for the purpose of providing analysis that helps the Department of Economic Development fulfill its responsibilities; and WHEREAS, the Department of Economic Development publishes an annual report which provides valuable insight into the performance of incentive programs, including historical comparisons and analysis that require many data points in order to be useful; and WHEREAS, the data collected by the Department of Economic Development for the purpose of analytics is pertinent to the legislature for policy-making decisions that affect the entire state; and WHEREAS, accessing all relevant data points that are collected, as well as all traceable data points that are capable of being collected, will assist the legislature in policy- making decisions that affect the entire state. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana requests the Department of Economic Development to identify and study all data points that are collected and that are capable of being collected within the Department of Economic Development and to provide a written report of its findings to the House Committee on Ways and Means no later than February 1, 2021.
