ATHLETICS: Prohibits schools from being members of or participating in athletic
competitions sponsored by an association that is not audited by the legislative auditor

2To enact R.S. 17:176(G), relative to school interscholastic extracurricular athletic programs;
3 to prohibit certain schools from being a member of or participating in any
4 competition sponsored by an organization that is not audited by the legislative
5 auditor; and to provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 17:176(G) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 ยง176. Extracurricular activities; interscholastic athletics; participation; standards;
9 prohibitions; filming or videotaping; definitions

11 G. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, no public school or
12 nonpublic school that is approved by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary
13 Education and that receives funds from the state may be a member of or participate
14 in any competition sponsored by an intrastate interscholastic extracurricular athletic
15 association or organization unless the association or organization submits its
16 financial records to the legislative auditor for review as provided by R.S. 24:513 for
17 a quasi public agency.

Abstract: Prohibits public schools and certain nonpublic schools from being members of
or participating in competitions sponsored by athletic associations that are not
audited by the legislative auditor.
Proposed law prohibits any public school or nonpublic school approved by the State Bd. of
Elementary and Secondary Education that receives funds from the state from being a
member of or participating in any competition sponsored by any intrastate interscholastic
extracurricular athletic association or organization that is not subject to audit by the
legislative auditor.
