LAW ENFORCEMENT: Provides relative to the duties of the Greater New Orleans
Expressway Commission's Causeway Police Department
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 48:1107, relative to the Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission's
3 Causeway Police Department; to remove certain requirements of the Causeway
4 Police Department and its officers; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 48:1107 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
7 ยง1107. Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission; Causeway Police
8 Department
9 The Causeway Police Department, along with its officers, shall not be
10 required to provide law enforcement and motorist aid services on the Huey P. Long
11 Bridge.

Abstract: Removes the Causeway Police Department, along with its officers, from
assignment on the Huey P. Long Bridge.
Present law requires a portion of the revenues of the Greater New Orleans Expressway
Commission remaining at the end of each fiscal year be used for its officers to police the
Huey P. Long Bridge.

Proposed law modifies present law by removing the requirement for the Causeway Police
Department, along with its officers, to provide law enforcement and motorist aid services
on the Huey P. Long Bridge.

Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The House Floor Amendments to the engrossed bill:
1. Makes technical changes.
2. Change the name applicable to proposed law from the Greater New Orleans
Expressway Commission's Causeway Police Department to the Causeway Police
Department.
3. Change the removal of the requirement applicable to the Causeway Police
Department from policing the Huey P. Long Bridge to providing law
enforcement and motorist aid services on the Huey P. Long Bridge.
