HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 222

A RESOLUTION
To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to design and
install signs on the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
WHEREAS, the Veterans Memorial Bridge is dedicated to our veterans, who have
nobly served our country; and
WHEREAS, our veterans deserve the utmost respect and appreciation; and
WHEREAS, the current signs on the Veterans Memorial Bridge are simple, small,
and similar to "highway marker" signs; and
WHEREAS, the current signs on the Veterans Memorial Bridge are not befitting of
the honor and respect our veterans deserve; and
WHEREAS, when the Huey P. Long Bridge was re-engineered and widened, the
"Huey P. Long Bridge" signs were restored and reinstalled; and
WHEREAS, the signs on the Huey P. Long Bridge are twenty-eight feet long, four
feet wide, and weigh two thousand five hundred pounds each; and
WHEREAS, the signs on the Veterans Memorial Bridge should be similar in scope
and visibility to those on the Huey P. Long Bridge.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Department of Transportation and
Development to design and install signs on the Veterans Memorial Bridge that are similar
in scope and visibility to those on the Huey P. Long Bridge.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.
