HOUSE BILL NO. 957

MOTOR VEHICLES:  Prohibits vehicle manufacturers and distributors from sharing driver
information without the driver's consent
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 22:1298, relative to unauthorized usage of driver information; to prohibit
3 insurers or third parties from using personal telematic data of a driver without the
4 express consent of the owner of the motor vehicle; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 22:1298 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
7 ยง1298.  Unauthorized usage of driver information
8	An insurer writing private passenger motor vehicle insurance or a third party
9 shall not share or use as a rating factor the personal telematic data of a driver without
10 the express consent of the owner of the motor vehicle.
