2828 An Act relative to juvenile restitution.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition,
3232 2is hereby amended by inserting after section 62 the following new section:-
3333 3 “Section 62A. The court shall make all reasonable efforts to ensure that restitution is
3434 4made to the victim of a juvenile offender. The court shall order that the juvenile be required to
3535 5repair, replace or otherwise make restitution for damage or loss caused by his wrongful act and
3636 6may impose fines in limited amounts. Restitution shall be made a condition of release,
3737 7placement, or parole by the juvenile court. In cases where the court determines it is appropriate,
3838 8the court may order the juvenile to make restitution directly to the court in the form of financial
3939 9payments, which shall then be turned over to the victim of the offense. The court may issue such 2 of 2
4040 10orders as are necessary for the collection of restitution, including garnishments, wage
4141 11withholdings, and executions.”
