An Act automatically sealing cannabis records and promoting uniform digital record keeping.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 Chapter 276 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 100K ¼ 
2the following section:-
3 SECTION 100K ½ (a) Massachusetts courts shall seal all records created as a result of a 
4criminal court appearance, juvenile court appearance or disposition for: (1) the possession or 
5cultivation of an amount of marijuana decriminalized by chapter 387 of the acts of 2008; (2) the 
6possession or cultivation of an amount of marijuana decriminalized by chapter 334 of the acts of 
72016; (3) the possession or cultivation of an amount of marijuana decriminalized by chapter 55 
8of the acts of 2017; (4) possession of marijuana with intent to distribute based on an amount of 
9marijuana decriminalized by chapter 387 of the acts of 2008, chapter 334 of the acts of 2016 or 
10chapter 55 of the acts of 2017; or (5) distribution of marijuana based on an amount of marijuana 
11decriminalized by chapter 387 of the acts of 2008, chapter 334 of the acts of 2016 or chapter 55 
12of the acts of 2017. 2 of 2
13 (b) Massachusetts courts shall leverage all available financial resources to create uniform 
14and digitized record keeping processes that enable automatic sealing of records related to 
15criminal court appearance, juvenile court appearance or disposition should criminal penalties 
16associated with such appearances and hearings and dispositions be removed from state law.
