29 | 29 | | Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to |
---|
30 | 30 | | promote the safety of the public, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, |
---|
31 | 31 | | necessary for the immediate preservation of the public safety. |

32 | 32 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
---|
33 | 33 | | of the same, as follows: |

34 | 34 | | 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 148 is hereby amended by inserting after section 4 the following |
---|
35 | 35 | | 2new section: |
---|
36 | 36 | | 3 Section 4A. Applicability of the fire laws and fire code in state-owned buildings:- |
---|
37 | 37 | | 4 “The provisions of the state fire code under said chapter 148 of the General Laws, and the |
---|
38 | 38 | | 5rules and regulations promulgated therefrom by the board of fire prevention regulations, shall |
---|
39 | 39 | | 6apply to all buildings, structures and property owned, operated or controlled by the |
---|
40 | 40 | | 7Commonwealth, other than the State House. The Head of the Fire Department, as defined in 2 of 2 |
---|
41 | 41 | | 8section 1 of chapter 148, shall enforce the provisions of this chapter and section with respect to |
---|
42 | 42 | | 9all buildings, structures and property owned, operated or controlled by the Commonwealth |
---|
43 | 43 | | 10located within such city, town or district.” |
---|
44 | 44 | | 11 SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its passage. |
