2828 An Act relative to fire safety of state-owned buildings, structures and property.
2929 Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to
3030 promote the safety of the public, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law,
3131 necessary for the immediate preservation of the public safety.
3232 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3333 of the same, as follows:
3434 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 148 is hereby amended by inserting after section 4 the following
3535 2new section:
3636 3 Section 4A. Applicability of the fire laws and fire code in state-owned buildings:-
3737 4 “The provisions of the state fire code under said chapter 148 of the General Laws, and the
3838 5rules and regulations promulgated therefrom by the board of fire prevention regulations, shall
3939 6apply to all buildings, structures and property owned, operated or controlled by the
4040 7Commonwealth, other than the State House. The Head of the Fire Department, as defined in 2 of 2
4141 8section 1 of chapter 148, shall enforce the provisions of this chapter and section with respect to
4242 9all buildings, structures and property owned, operated or controlled by the Commonwealth
4343 10located within such city, town or district.”
4444 11 SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its passage.
