| 30 | 30 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 31 | 31 | | 1 SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding section 12 of chapter 32 of the General Laws or any |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 2other general or special law to the contrary, the state board of retirement shall provide Cynthia |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 3Smith Wilder, the surviving spouse of Kevin Wilder, a lifetime, monthly allowance equal to 62 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 4per cent of the average annual rate of regular compensation Kevin Wilder received during: (1) |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 5any period of 3 consecutive years of creditable service for which such rate of compensation was |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 6the highest; or (2) the period or periods, whether consecutive or not, constituting his last 3 years |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 7of creditable service preceding retirement, whichever is the greater. |

| 38 | 38 | | 8 (b) Any retirement benefit provided to Cynthia Smith Wilder pursuant to this act shall be |

| 39 | 39 | | 9in lieu of, and shall not be in addition to, any benefits she may have otherwise received from the |
