Barrett for legislation to designate a certain bridge in the town of Lexington in honor of Henry N. “Hank” Manz. Transportation. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act to designate a certain bridge in the town of Lexington in honor of Henry N. “Hank” Manz. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Whereas, Henry N. “Hank” Manz, 1942 - 2020 is remembered with great respect and 2affection by the citizens of Lexington, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the 97 Eagle Scouts 3he mentored, and most importantly by his family and friends, and 4 Whereas Hank was a veteran who proudly served his country in active duty for eleven 5years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and 6 Whereas, he served his community of Lexington for decades, including as Scoutmaster 7for the Boy Scouts Troop 160 for seventeen years, and as a youth hockey commisioner for 8twenty years, and 9 Whereas, he served as a Lexington Select Board Member for nine years and as a Town 10Meeting member for 26 years, and later served on various Town committees, such as the 11Transportation Advisory Committee and the Zoning Board of Appeals, and 2 of 2 12 Whereas, he was honored with the White Tricorne Hat Award in 2018, Lexington’s most 13prestigious award reserved for extraordinary community servants, and 14 Whereas, he is fondly remembered in Lexington and beyond for his good (and wry) 15humor, tremendous work ethic, selfless dedication, devotion to local government, and 16unwavering commitment to those around him, 17 Notwithstanding any rule or regulation of the department of highways to the contrary, the 18Bridge L-10-010 Route 2A Marrett Road spanning I-95 in the Town of Lexington shall be 19heretofore designated and known as the Henry N. “Hank” Manz bridge in honor of his 20outstanding commitment to the community. The department of highways shall erect suitable 21markers bearing this designation in compliance with the standards of the department and any 22existing historic preservation guidelines or statutes.
