2626 An Act to simplify the language used by state agencies.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 Section 4C of chapter 7D of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition,
3030 2is hereby amended by striking out the second sentence and inserting in place thereof the
3131 3following 4 sentences:- The chief digital officer shall improve the web services for executive
3232 4offices and agencies. The chief digital officer will require plain and simple language consistent
3333 5with the average reading comprehension level of residents of the commonwealth as determined
3434 6by the commissioner of elementary and secondary education for web services. The web services
3535 7will include information on common issues faced by the public. The chief digital officer will
3636 8provide analog alternatives for the web services information written in plain and simple language
3737 9consistent with the average reading comprehension level of residents of the commonwealth as
3838 10determined by the commissioner of elementary and secondary education.
