The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act relative to creditable service for Abby Levin, a member of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Notwithstanding any general or special law, rule, or regulation to the contrary, the 2Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System shall credit Abby Levin, a member of the 3Massachusetts’s Teachers’ Retirement System, with one year of creditable service for her work 4at the Northampton Center for Children and Families during the 1979-1980 school year, for the 5purpose of determining her superannuation retirement allowance pursuant to paragraph (a) of 6subdivision (2) of section 5 of chapter 32 of the General Laws. Before the date that any 7retirement allowance becomes effective in the case of Abby Levin, she shall pay into the annuity 8savings fund of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System in one (1) sum or installments, 9upon such terms and conditions as the board may prescribe, an amount equal to that which would 10have been withheld as regular deductions from her regular compensation for such previous 11service, plus buyback interest.
