No. 4196 The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act authorizing the town of West Stockbridge to continue the employment of Steven Traver as fire chief. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Steven Traver, 2chief of the fire department of the town of West Stockbridge, may continue to serve in his 3position, subject to approval by the select board of the town of West Stockbridge, until 4December 31, 2024, the date of his retirement or the select board votes not to reappoint him to 5his position, whichever occurs first; provided, however, that he is mentally and physically 6capable of performing the duties of his position. The select board may require that Steven Traver 7be examined by an impartial physician designated by the select board to determine his mental 8and physical capability. Deductions shall continue to be made from the regular compensation of 9Steven Traver under chapter 32 of the General Laws, while he is employed as chief of the fire 10department of the town of West Stockbridge in accordance with all applicable laws. 11 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
