By Representative Day of Stoneham, a petition (subject to Joint Rule 12) of Michael S. Day that 
the Massachusetts Department of Transportation be authorized to convey a certain parcel of land 
in the town of Stoneham for the purposes of reconstructing an off-ramp from Interstate Route 93 
northbound. State Administration and Regulatory Oversight.

An Act authorizing the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to convey a certain parcel 
of land in the town of Stoneham.
Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to 
provide forthwith a conveyance of land in the town of Stoneham, therefore it is hereby declared 
to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 7E of chapter 81 of the General Laws, or any other 
2general or special law to the contrary, the Secretary of the Massachusetts Department of 
3Transportation may, on behalf of the administrator of the division of highways, convey to 
4Wakefield Investments, Inc. a certain parcel of land in the town of Stoneham owned by the 
5Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and taken for highway purposes in 
61958 under Highway Layout 4724, for the purposes of reconstructing an off-ramp from the 
7Interstate 93 northbound to Montvale Avenue and Maple Street. 
8 SECTION 2. The parcel of land to be conveyed pursuant to section 1 is described as 
9follows: the property situated in the town of Stoneham, herein known as a portion of Parcel 2-31,  2 of 2
10which is landlocked to the abutting property owner at 100 Maple Street, and described in a 1958 
11Order of Taking, under Layout 4724, dated September 23, 1958, and recorded in the South 
12Middlesex Registry of Deeds in Book 9244, Page 114, containing 12,500 square feet of land, 
13more or less. 
14 SECTION 3. The consideration for the conveyance authorized in this act shall be the full 
15and fair market value of the parcel as determined by the Secretary of Massachusetts Department 
16of Transportation, and as agreed to by the abutting property owner, Wakefield Investments, Inc. 
17 SECTION 4. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Wakefield 
18Investments, Inc., of Wakefield Massachusetts, shall be responsible for all of its costs and 
19expenses related to this transaction, including, but not limited to costs associated with any 
20engineering, surveys, appraisals and deed preparation related to the conveyance authorized in 
21this act as such costs may be determined by the Secretary of the Massachusetts Department of 
22Transportation.
