2121 An Act authorizing the town of Wrentham to grant an additional 7 licenses for the sale of all
2222 alcoholic beverages to be drunk on the premises.
2323 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2424 of the same, as follows:
2525 1 SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding section 17 of chapter 138 of the General Laws, the
2626 2licensing authority of the town of Wrentham may grant 7 additional licenses for the sale of all
2727 3alcoholic beverages to be drunk on the premises pursuant to section 12 of said chapter 138 to
2828 4establishments located within the 3 development zones as described in subsection (b) upon
2929 5approval of and under conditions set by the licensing authority of the town of Wrentham. A
3030 6license granted under this act shall be clearly marked on its face either “Village Zone A”,
3131 7“Village Zone B”, or “Stonewall Blvd Development”, as applicable, and shall be subject to all of
3232 8said chapter 138 except section 17.
3333 9 (b) The licensing authority shall restrict the 7 licenses authorized in this act as follows:
3434 10 (1) Two licenses shall be issued to establishments located with the town’s Village Zone A
3535 11Planned Development district shown on a map entitled “Future Development Map: Village Zone
3636 12A & B” as dated on September 21, 2023, a copy of which is on file in the office of the town
3737 13clerk; 2 of 3
3838 14 (2) Three licenses shall be issued to establishments located within the town’s Village
3939 15Zone B district shown on a map entitled “Future Development Map: Village Zone A & B” as
4040 16dated on September 21, 2023, a copy of which is on file in the office of the town clerk; and
4141 17 (3) Two licenses shall be issued to establishments located within the town’s C-1 Planned
4242 18Development district shown on a map entitled “Future Development Map: Stonewall Blvd
4343 19Development” as dated on September 21, 2023, a copy of which is on file in the office of the
4444 20town clerk.
4545 21 (c) A license granted pursuant to this section shall only be exercised in the dining room of
4646 22a common victualler and in such other public rooms or areas as may be deemed reasonable and
4747 23appropriate by the licensing authority as certified in writing.
4848 24 (d) The licensing authority shall not approve the transfer of a license granted pursuant to
4949 25this act to a location outside of the initial zoned areas as described in paragraph (1), (2), or (3) of
5050 26subsection (b), but it may grant a license to new applicant within such initial zoned area if the
5151 27applicant files with the licensing authority a letter from the department of revenue and a letter
5252 28from the department of unemployment assistance indicating that the license is in good standing
5353 29with those departments and that all applicable taxes, fees and contributions have been paid.
5454 30 (e) If a licensee terminates or fails to renew a license granted under this act or any such
5555 31license granted under this act is cancelled, revoked or no longer in use, the license shall be
5656 32returned physically, with all of the legal rights, privileges and restrictions pertaining thereto, to
5757 33the licensing authority and the licensing authority may then grant the license to a new applicant
5858 34under the same conditions specified in this act. 3 of 3
5959 35 (f) All licenses granted under this act shall be issued within 3 years after the effective
6060 36date of this act; provided, however, that a license originally granted within that time period may
6161 37be granted to a new applicant under subsections (d) and (e) thereafter.
6262 38 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
