No. 5120 By Representative Fluker Oakley of Boston, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 5120) of Brandy Fluker Oakley (with the approval of the mayor and city council) for legislation to authorize the appointment of Pierre Charles Darius as a police officer in the city of Boston, notwithstanding the maximum age requirement. [Local Approval Received.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act directing the City of Boston Police Department to waive the maximum age requirement for Pierre Charles Darius of Mattapan. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. 2 Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, including the provisions of 3Chapter 43 of the Acts of 2007, the City of Boston Police Department shall waive the maximum 4age requirement for the original appointment of police officers for Pierre Charles Darius. If 5Pierre Charles Darius meets all other requirements set forth by the Boston Police Department, he 6shall be eligible to have his name certified for the original appointment to the position of police 7officer. 8 SECTION 2. 9 The provisions of this act are severable, and if any provision, or portion thereof, should 10be held to be unconstitutional or otherwise invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such 2 of 2 11unconstitutionality or invalidity shall not affect the remaining provisions, which remain in full 12force and effect. 13 SECTION 3. 14 This act shall take effect upon its passage.
