of town) for legislation to regulate certain insurance benefits for elected officials in the town of 
Blackstone. Municipalities and Regional Government.  [Local Approval Received.]

An Act regulating certain insurance benefits for elected officials in the town of Blackstone.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding chapter 32B of the General Laws or any other general or 
2special law to the contrary, an elected or appointed official of the town of Blackstone who 
3receives a stipend shall not be eligible for participation in the town’s contributory health and life 
4insurance plans unless the official pays to the town 100 percent of the cost of participation in the 
5plans, plus any administrative costs that may be assessed by the Board of Selectmen. 
6 SECTION 2. Notwithstanding Section 1, the Town Clerk and Treasurer-Collector shall 
7remain eligible for participation in the town’s contributory health and life insurance plans at the 
8same rate of contribution as nonunion employees of the Town. 
9 SECTION 3. Section 1 shall apply starting with the successor to each incumbent stipend 
10elected or appointed official at the time this act takes effect and shall not affect the eligibility or 
11contribution rate for any current stipend elected or appointed officials of the Town of Blackstone  2 of 2
12for the Town’s contributory health and life insurance plans so long as such officials hold their 
13current position. 
14 SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
