2525 An Act relative to culturally competent and effective health care.
2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2727 of the same, as follows:
2828 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 111 of the Massachusetts General Laws shall be amended by
2929 2adding at the end thereof, the following section:
3030 3 Section ##: Notwithstanding any special or general law to the contrary, the Board of
3131 4Registration in Medicine and the Center for Health Information and Analysis shall collect and
3232 5make publicly available physician workforce date concerning race, ethnicity, gender identity and
3333 6sexual identity for the purposes of assessing the impact of physician workforce diversity and
3434 7health outcomes in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
3535 8 Health care facilities licensed under Section 51 of Chapter 111 of the Massachusetts
3636 9General Laws shall provide to both the Board of Registration in Medicine and the Center for
3737 10Health Information and Analysis, the following data on a quarterly basis for physicians, medical
3838 11fellows, interns, and residents:

4141 14 Identity 
4242 15 Duration of practice in Massachusetts
4343 16 Duration of practice at current facility
4444 17 Highest Professional Level / Leadership Appointment 
4545 18 Highest Academic Appointment 
4646 19 Highest Educational Debt 
4747 20 Employment status: Part-time / full-time / per diem
4848 21 This data shall be aggregated and made publicly available on the Board of Registration in
4949 22Medicine website no more than 30 days after the end of each fiscal quarter.
5050 23 SECTION 2. The Center for Health Information and Analysis shall report on the data
5151 24collected under this section to the House and Senate Clerk and the Department of Public Health
5252 25no later than January 30th of each calendar year.
5353 26 SECTION 3. This act shall become effective 90 days after enactment.
