An Act relative to culturally competent and effective 	health care.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Chapter 111 of the Massachusetts General Laws shall be amended by 
2adding at the end thereof, the following section: 
3 Section ##: Notwithstanding any special or general law to the contrary, the Board of 
4Registration in Medicine and the Center for Health Information and Analysis shall collect and 
5make publicly available physician workforce date concerning race, ethnicity, gender identity and 
6sexual identity for the purposes of assessing the impact of physician workforce diversity and 
7health outcomes in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts 
8 Health care facilities licensed under Section 51 of Chapter 111 of the Massachusetts 
9General Laws shall provide to both the Board of Registration in Medicine and the Center for 
10Health Information and Analysis, the following data on a quarterly basis for physicians, medical 
11fellows, interns, and residents: 
12 Race / Ethnicity  2 of 2
13 Gender  
14 Identity  
15 Duration of practice in Massachusetts 
16 Duration of practice at current facility 
17 Highest Professional Level / Leadership Appointment  
18 Highest Academic Appointment  
19 Highest Educational Debt  
20 Employment status: Part-time / full-time / per diem 
21 This data shall be aggregated and made publicly available on the Board of Registration in 
22Medicine website no more 	than 30 days after the end of each fiscal quarter. 
23 SECTION 2. The Center for Health Information and Analysis shall report on the data 
24collected under this section to the House and Senate Clerk and the Department of Public Health 
25no later than January 30th of each calendar year. 
26 SECTION 3. This act shall become effective 90 days after enactment.
